When
Jim and Libby Telfer decided to go into the bed and breakfast business,
they had no previous experience in the hospitality industry. However, after the
first few months they realised what a pleasure it is to host guests, and they
have enjoyed meeting many wonderful people from New Zealand and overseas. They
both enjoy making people feel welcome, and making sure that their stay in Gisborne
is the greatest experience possible.
Jim
has been a sheep and cattle farmer most of his life, except for a short time in
the dairy industry with Libby. They also have a citrus orchard at present which
they run together with Jim's son Steve. Among other things, Jim loves to go whitebaiting,
and really enjoys the duck-shooting season.
Libby was raised in Wellington,
but has always been drawn towards the country life, and animals - especially horses.
She has ridden horses most of her life, and a short time after she met Jim they
bought a sheep and beef farm together near Te Awamutu.
They moved to Gisborne
permanently a few years ago, and find that the running of a bed and breakfast
on a 25 acre property where they can still have their horses, sheep, and cattle,
and other pets has become the perfect lifestyle.
